Museums at Night weekend from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 May is part of Museums and Galleries Month (MGM) and coincides with the major European initiative Nuit des Musées on Saturday 17 May, supported by the Council of Europe. The Tower Museum is one of more than seventy museums and galleries taking part in this event in association with Aardman Animations.

Craig McGuicken, Curator with Derry City Council’s Museum and Heritage Service, said the Tower Museum was delighted to be part of the celebrations. “Museums and Galleries Month is the UK’s biggest celebration of museums and galleries, taking place from 1 to 31 May 2008. It brings together a diverse range of museums and galleries, offering a rich and entertaining programme of events, exhibitions and activities. We hope our involvement in Museums and Galleries Month 2008 will help us encourage more people to visit the facility and explore what we have to offer.”

The Wrong Trousers is a funny family film cash-strapped Wallace unknowingly takes in notorious criminal Feather McGraw as a lodger. Sly McGraw uses one of Wallace’s clever inventions, a pair of ‘Techno Trousers’, to force him to steal a priceless diamond from a local museum, before faithful Gromit comes to his rescue and helps him to return the diamond!
