Press ReleaseEnvironmental Services Committee December meeting 2006Friday, December 01, 2006The Environmental Services Committee will take place at the Guildhall on Monday 04 November at 4.00pm. This month’s Planning Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday 05 November. The Environmental Services Report will provide details of street naming and postal numbering proposals for new developments. Members will be given an update on the Council’s Pride in our City campaign and how the city was entered in three environmental competitions during 2006 and won a series of awards. Details of how monies were spent on additional staff, the maintenance and planting of planters at various locations and the purchase and planting of flowers, trees and shrubs. An update on the number of people who took advantage of the Warm Homes Scheme, which was operated by the EAGA Partnership on behalf of the Department of Social Development, will also be presented to members. The Chief Environmental Health Officer, in his report will update members with details of calls received during October in relation to dog control. Members will be provided with an update on Health and Safety at Work projects over October, including the Christmas Lights Switch On and the development and application of alternative enforcement strategies. Members will be provided with an update on the appointment of Smoke Free Environment Officers by the DHSSPS ahead of the implementation of the ban on smoking in enclosed places from April of next year. Members will also be asked to consider a Draft Air Quality Plan of the Creggan Road area and to discuss a consultation paper on proposals for the contaminated land regulations (NI) 2006 and Statutory Guidance. Members will be provided with details of an application for the approval of fishery product establishment. The monthly Building Control Report will also be provided for members.
