Ryanair’s Stansted route has carried over 1.1 million passengers since its commencement in 1999 and now operates a twice daily service to England’s vibrant capital. Along with the recent announcement of routes to Birmingham and London (Luton) a total of 7 low fare routes will be in operation this Autumn. Celebrating the Milestone, Ryanair’s Sales and Marketing UK Executive Ashley Casey said: “London (Stansted) was the first Ryanair route to operate from City of Derry Airport back in 1999. Since then we have added six other UK routes to the Derry timetable proving that the people of Northern Ireland wont be fooled by high fares airlines and choose Ryanair to visit Bristol, Liverpool and London (Luton).” “While other airlines are busy increasing fuel surcharges, Ryanair is busy guaranteeing the lowest fares and no fuel surcharges ever on any of its new routes.” “Join in the celebrations and take us up on our special offer of seats to Bristol, East Midlands and Glasgow Prestwick from as little as £5.00 one way including taxes and charges. We urge passengers to book now at www.ryanair.com”. The Chairman of Derry City Council’s Airport Committee, Alderman Joe Miller acknowledging the significant passenger growth at City of Derry Airport since the commencement of the region’s first low-cost route said: “Direct air services to London represent a significant connection for the development of the North West region for business and tourism. The Stansted service grew by 20% last year contributing to the Airport’s record level of passenger throughput of 432,816 passengers during 2007. The City of Derry Airport remains an important infrastructural asset for the region and its important role in providing direct access continues to grow”. *Subject to availability Terms and Conditions apply.
