Job Brokerage Service

Kickstart provides employers with an impartial, individually tailored job brokerage training & recruitment support package to meet their needs. Our highly experienced team interview and assess potential employees to ensure that the employer’s requirements are fully met.

Pre-employment programmes (PEPs) have been run with Firstsource, Foyle Food Group and Partnership Care West. In the case of Firstsource, the Kickstart to Work Programme and the North West Regional College teamed up with Firstsource to develop and deliver a one-week pre-employment programme. Delivered in the college the programme involved training targeted at the contact centre sector. The one-week course highlighted the benefits of getting back to paid work, helped the participants to develop their knowledge and skills for the potential posts in a call-centre and supported participants to develop their job interview techniques. The programme also incorporated a tour of Firstsource’s facility at the Northland Road and culminated in a guaranteed interview with Firstsource.

Ann McNicholl, Human Resources Officer, Firstsource said “Firstsource has worked closely with Kickstart to successfully recruit suitable employees from among those already registered for employment support with the Kickstart programme. We found Kickstart a reliable and efficient service to work with and we found that the tailored pre-employment programme they developed with us met our needs very well.”

To date 65% of all those who have completed PEPs moved into employment.

Assistance with Implementation of Social Clauses in Public Contracts

KSTW offers a service that would assist procuring organisations and contractors during the implementation of requirements of the Social Clause of Targeting Recruitment and Training within large scale public construction projects in the North West. Key to this would be assisting the procuring organisations and contractors to implement the social clauses in adherence to the provisions that fair employment legislation makes for recruiting from among the unemployed. To find out about what this service involves click here.

Peace Bridge Project

Kickstart worked with Ilex on the PEACE BRIDGE Project to assist the contractor, Graham Construction meet their social clause obligations under the contract. This entailed Kickstart delivering a training and recruitment service to source suitable candidates for job and apprenticeship vacancies. In all, 12 posts were created under the social clause element of the contract and were filled in February 2010. We are now providing a follow up mentoring service to ensure the transition from unemployment to employment runs smoothly for the employees.

Social Clause Delivery Forum (SCDF)

We have established a Social Clause Delivery Forum to build upon the pioneering work started on the Peace Bridge project. The aim of the forum is:

  • To disseminate learning from the Peace Bridge Project as a social clause pilot project
  • To raise awareness of how the Kickstart service can assist and support public organisations and contractors in the Derry City Council area to meet their social clause obligations and
  • To act as a vehicle to gather knowledge and expertise from procurement practitioners in order to shape policy and practice at Government level.
