Free Family Fun Activities

Saturday 20th August 2011:  12noon – 4pm Guildhall Square

Kids Activities:  Arts & Crafts Workshops, a Climbing Wall to reach the sky, Magic Shows, Face Painting & Balloon Modelling.

Tours of the Guildhall: Uncover the amazing history of Derry’s iconic Guildhall on a guided tour.

Seafood Market: Celebrating our maritime heritage with dishes such as mussels & crab claws, with demonstrations from local chefs.

Storytelling at the Tower Museum: Join us for some story telling between 2-4pm for the young and young at heart.

Visit the Tower Museum: To find out more about our Ancient Past at the Megaliths of Northern Ireland exhibition. Special Irish Walled Towns Day reduced admission of £1.00 per person.

Listen to the Walls: Performance by local bands, Ceoltoirí Óga, a traditional Irish music group who have played with Altan and many other greats. Also playing are The Grin, a six piece, celtic rock band
offering a distinctive blend of crowd pleasing anthems.

Walled City Market: The market offers a range of speciality food, arts & crafts including textiles, artisan gifts & more.

Georgian Soap Opera: Meet key historical characters from the past as they share gossip on the walls. Bishop St Within & Grand Parade.

Georgian Soirée: Join us on the Grand Parade and experience the Fencing Master and Georgian performers dancing to fiddle & flute learn a few steps and join in!

Street Performance: The Guildhall Square will come alive with stilt walkers, clown in a car & the Sunny-day Strollers.

Falconry: Falconry displays by the Northern Ireland Falconry School.

Foyle Punt: A traditional class of wooden sailing dinghy, unique to the Foyle and still hand built in the city will be on display in association with The Lough’s Agency.

Listen to the Walls: Performances by Local bands, The Jamie Noonan Band - A swing and groove band with renditions of current favourites: The Cannon Balls share their skilful mergence of
soul, rock, contemporary funk and pop. Harmonocity perform in a multi-cultural drumming circle.
