Craft Month

Come to the Craft workshops at the Craft Village (Tower Museum education room) every Monday in August. Make your Monday a creative one!

 

Stuart Cairns1st August 12-4pm @ the Craft Village- Stuart Cairns

Drawing with wire and found objects- make a critter, creature or other beautiful strange objects! Combining various wires and threads with shells, bottle tops, twigs and bits and bobs make your own little sculpture in a morning- just bring your ideas and enthusiasm and get making! Drop in workshop!

Clay mask making workshop- Drop by and make your own mysterious mask, get hands on experience with clay, imprint textures, marks and colour! Play, photograph and take home your clay mask. Option to collect after firing and glazing at a later date is available. (There will be an additional cost for fully fired, completed glazed works.) Drop in workshop!

 
 

15th August  12-4pm @ the Craft Village – Hannah Casey

Hannah CaseyBring along a piece of your Treasure * or an image/description of this Treasure. In our workshop you will be invited to make an image of your Treasure using a variety of media available; you can spend 10 minutes or an hour making in the workshop. Everyone’s Treasure will be added to an online catalogue, this archive will exists as a record and tribute to our ephemeral Treasure. Drop in workshop!

*Treasure that is of no real value to anyone except you, like a pressed flower, a postcard or a piece of fabric.

Or Blog: Get creative at home, be part of the Treasure Archive by sending me an image of your Treasure*: Draw it, sew it, reconstruct it anyway you like or simply photograph it. Do this throughout Craft Month and your image will be added to an online archive.

Heather Wilson22nd August  12-4pm @ the Craft Village  - Heather Wilson

Using traditional hand felting techniques and simple stitch, each participant will create their own unique textile art piece in soft hand dyed merino, silk tops and natural fibres. Northern Ireland is surrounded by lush greenery, rolling drumlins and heather-topped mountains.  It is this incredible natural beauty that will be used to inspire the colour and texture of the felted landscapes.  8 places available in this workshop, all materials provided.
