Press Information

The Press Office is based within the Marketing and Communications Unit of the Town Clerk’s Department and is a support service to members and officers responsible for direct service provision, as well as a proactive press and media service to the local and national media.

The Press Service is responsible for promoting and leading on all aspects of the Council’s Public Relations and communication activities as well as providing advice and support to all council departments, the Mayor and its members.

The main function of the section is to prepare press releases, organise press conferences, photocalls, briefings and launches as well as dealing with all media enquiries. The section plays a key part in the promotion of all Council services and events.

The office provides professional PR advice to officers and members on the planning of events and announcements to ensure that the most effective way of getting the message across and to guarantee a sustained media campaign.

The section also provides creative copy, speeches and editorials and assists with advertisement campaigns and printed publications. The office provides a daily press clipping service and assists in monitoring all media coverage of Council events and campaigns.
