Shantallow Community Centre
Shantallow Community Centre conveniently situated in the heart of the Greater Shantallow Area on the Cityside North, has a wide range of activities for all age groups.
The Centre functions as:-
- Community Centre
- Leisure Centre
- Community Services Office
- The Community Centre offers an outlet for Community Groups within the Greater Shantallow Area to operate, i.e. Naíscoil Cholmcille, Shantallow Gymnastics Club, and Northside Fifty Plus Club. It also offers Groups a venue to hold meetings, functions etc.
- The Centre also operates as a Leisure Centre with a large Sport Hall which hosts many activities such as Indoor Football, Basketball, Step Aerobics etc.
- The Community Services Office for Cityside North is based at Shantallow Community Centre. The purpose of this Office is to:
- Provide resources and actively support programmes, which empower the Community and Voluntary sector in the Greater Shantallow Areas, prioritising work in areas of social need.
- To identify the need of the local community and work in partnership with other sectors to encourage and support existing and new initiatives in response to those needs.
- To provide an accessible Grant Aid Programme to ensure successful local community initiatives.
Indoor Facilities
Sports Hall
The large Sports Hall is bookable and can host many activities such as Indoor Football, Volleyball, Netball, Badminton, Basketball, etc., while other less vigorous activities are accommodated elsewhere in the spacious centre.
