Bottle Banks

Beat the queues at Civic Amenity Sites

You can beat the queues at the Civic Amenity sites by visiting the centres during the week. We urge residents to make optimum use of these sites for recycling household waste and to sort out their recyclable materials prior to arrival in order to make your visit quicker.

Recyclers - Well done for your contribution. Keep it up!

Non- recyclers - It's time to make a difference and act positively. Start recycling and saving our natural resources. Find out how easy it is on your next visit to your Community Recycling Centre. Our staff are on hand to provide helpful advice.

Bottle Banks

Derry City Council presently provide bottle banks at the following locations:

  • Sainsburys
  • Northside Shopping Centre
  • Tesco Lisnagelvin
  • Drumahoe Service Station
  • Council Offices
  • All Civic Amenity Sites
  • Student Village Duncreggan Road
  • Mace-Creggan Road
  • Newbuildings Community Centre car park
  • Creggan Country Park

Changes have been made to the way glass is collected from Council Recycling Centres and Bring Banks with colour separation no longer a requirement. With immediate effect any colour of glass container can be deposited in any of the bottle banks i.e. green into clear, clear into brown etc. Colour separation will, in future, be undertaken at the glass recycling facility. This measure should provide additional capacity at these sites and eliminate problems associated with over flow containers.
