IFA Level 1

Coach Masterclass topic:  IFA Level 1
Tutor: Kevin Doherty
Venue: Shared Futures Centre, Clondermott & Templemore
Day & Time: 5th February, 12th & 19th February
Summary: Course designed for new coaches and volunteers operating within clubs. Includes Basic First Aid for football, Access NI clearance and IFA Child Protection training.
Cost:  £220 NB: Concessions are available for clubs who participate in the IFA  Foyle Games Development Centre

 


Fundamentals of Football

Coach Masterclass topic: Fundamentals of Football
Tutor: Lee Carroll
Venue: Bishops Field
Day & Time: 13th Feb 2pm – 5pm
Summary: Introduction to the concept of ‘Fundamentals’ in football and be taken through an interactive workshop discussing the key elements they should be aware of when introducing football to children aged 5-9 year old. Coaches can then observe IFA/DENI specialist school coaches working with children from local clubs.

Developing Games Intelligence

Coach Masterclass topic: Developing Games Intelligence
Tutor: Nigel Best
Venue: Institute FC
Day & Time: Monday 13th February, 6.30pm
Summary: Practical master class for coaches working with children aged 9 – 12 years demonstrating good practices that aid player development.
NB: UEFA qualified coaches attending this workshop will receive credits toward revalidation of IFA/UEFA Coaching Licences.

Strength and Conditioning – Laying the Foundations (Functional Screen before load)

Coach Masterclass topic: Strength and Conditioning – Laying the Foundations (Functional Screen before load)
Tutor: Chris Shields
Venue: St Columb’s Park Leisure Centre
Day & Time: Monday 13th February, 6.30pm
Summary: The session will focus on functional screening and corrective exercises with the aim of improving player/athlete movement patterns. There will be both theoretical and practical components to the session. Suitable for coaches of all levels interested in the development of strength within individual and team sports.

Venue: City of Derry Rugby Club
Day & Time: Wednesday 15th February, 7.00pm – 9.30pm
Summary: In this workshop we will explore and develop an understanding of coaching methods/styles we can use to improve our players ability to exploit space and imbalances within rugby.

Age Specific Small Sided Games Masterclass

Coach Masterclass topic: Age Specific Small Sided Games Masterclass
Tutor: Tony Scullion
Venue: Celtic Park
Day & Time: 6.30pm – 9.30pm, Wednesday 15th Feb
Summary: U-14/U-16
Focuses on the mechanics and technique of kicking, both shooting and passing and encourages coaches to develop kicking more in their sessions. The session is specific to this age group to help coaches plan their sessions for kicking skills.
MINOR/U-21
High intensity session using heart rate monitors on unidentified players to show the level of work rate during training. One coach runs the session on the pitch while another shows the performance of the monitored players “live” in the stand to help coaches understand how to structure their sessions.
