Traffic and Travel
Each year this event attracts several thousand children and their parents to Guildhall Square and those planning on coming along to the event are advised to come early and plan your journey as there will be some restrictions on the night with restricted access to Waterloo Place and Guildhall Square.
It is important to note the following Traffic and Travel arrangements
- Pedestrian access: There will be no access to Guildhall Square via Shipquay Street from 5pm. Attendees are advised to access Guildhall Square via Custom House Street or Waterloo Place via Strand Road or Waterloo Street. There will be restricted entry via Union Hall place to Guildhall Square. This will be closed off once Guildhall Square has reached capacity – the public will be rerouted via Magazine Gate-Waterloo Street direction.
- Disability access: An allocated disabled viewing area will be available in front of the main stage. Disabled access will be available via Guildhall Street with a drop off at Queen’s Quay Roundabout.
- Meeting point: Meeting point area will be allocated at the Guildhall.
- Arrival drop-off locations: These are at either end of the main event zone at Custom House Street from Foyle Street direction and at Waterloo Place from the Strand Road Direction.
- Translink Services: Translink bus services will operate as normal on Wednesday evening.
- Ambulances: Ambulances will be placed on Whittaker Street and at Police Court Street.
